

Bristol School of Self Defence Health & Safety Policy Statement
The Bristol School of Self Defence regards the health, safety and welfare of its
instructors, students and those who may be affected by their activities as being
of prime importance. The following statement recognises our obligations under the
Health & Safety at Work etc. Act 1974, including all relevant Regulations and Approved
Codes of Practice additional to the Act.
General Policy
Bristol School of Self Defence
aims to provide a healthy and safe training environment for all instructors, students,
and others affected by its activities. This will be achieved by:
Organisation
Instructors at all levels are responsible for the health, safety and
welfare of students under their control, and others affected by the school’s activities.
All
students also have specific health and safety duties. The duties of students are
to:
Professional health and safety advice is provided to the Bristol School of Self Defence
by Paul Hobday, Health & Safety Consultant. Paul is appointed as the competent person
in relation to health and safety advice, as required by the Management of Health
& Safety at Work Regulations 1999.
Arrangements
All activities undertaken by the Bristol
School of Self Defence are risk assessed and controls put in place to reduce any
significant risks. Copies of these risk assessments are available upon request.
