Self Protection Courses for Schools, Colleges and Universities

As a responsible educational establishment, you may be considering offering personal safety or self defence courses for your students, either as part of their lesson plans or as an extra-curricular activity. We are able to offer self protection courses specific to people of student age (16+), either in mixed or single-sex groups, at your premises.

Statistics

Young people are the group at most risk of becoming the victims of violent crime, according to the latest Home Office statistics. The latest violent crime statistics show that:

Males aged 16-24yrs have a 13.4% risk of being attacked

Females aged 16-24yrs have a 6.4% risk of being attacked

Compared to the national average for all adults who have a 3.2% risk of being attacked.

Self Protection Courses

The Bristol School of Self Defence are able to offer tailor-made courses to your school, college or university on any of the following subjects:

Personal Safety (how to stay safe when out and about)

Self Defence Techniques (how to deal with all aspects of physical defence, from protecting your personal space, to dealing with grabs, holds, strangles, ground attacks and weapon attacks).

Self Defence for Females (how to stay safe and deal with the threats females face from male sexual predators)

These courses could either be offered as a part of a physical education syllabus, or as a special treat for your students as a break away from their normal curriculum. Alternatively, our courses could be offered out of lesson time (evenings, weekends, school holidays, etc) as an extra-curricular activity. Colleges and universities may wish to consider a course as part of their induction for new starters - a time when students are at their most vulnerable.

Our courses can be delivered at your premises, anywhere throughout the UK, Europe or Worldwide. Alternatively, it can be arranged at our gym facility in Bristol (max 20 people). If training is to take place outside of the City of Bristol area, travelling expenses will be added to the cost. These will be agreed in advance. Also, if you do not have a suitable area for the training to take place, we can arrange one for your at additional cost, again agreed in advance.

On all our courses you will receive a minimum of two fully qualified instructors who are CRB checked and first aid trained.
